International Day of Peace

On 21 September the United Nations will be observing the UN International Day of Peace.   Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the UN will call for a minute of Silence for Peace on this day.

The World Harmony Foundation is pleased to have been involved with helping to raise awareness of this important day by being one of the co-sponsors of the newly designed International Day of Peace Poster (see below) along with our partners Mayors for Peace and Global Family.  Our organizations are donating the printing of 25,000 Posters to the United Nations and the UN NGO Global Community.

Margo LaZaro who represented the sponsors of the new Poster design worked closely with both the UN Peace and Securities Unit of the Department of Public Information and the talented design team of the Outreach Division of DPI on the creation of the Design.  We are sincerely grateful for the support of the Co-Chairs of the NGO UN International Day of Peace Committee.  We appreciate whole-heartedly the efforts and consideration of both the design team of the Outreach Division and the staff of the Peace and Securities Unit of the Department of Public Information.

We are dedicating this poster to the memory and spirit of Anthony LaZaro, Margo's 28 year old nephew who's sudden passing was on the day that the final Poster design was created with the beam of light above the dove.  Anthony was a wonderful caring person who was always ready to lend a helping hand to others with a big smile and warm-hearted goodwill toward all.
